Welcome
Hello! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. As you may notice, it is quite barren here. A few poems here or there, and almost all from two years ago (at the time of writing). I'm going to try to be more consistent with writing, using this blog as an outlet for it, and who knows, maybe it will come in handy. I plan to post poetry, short stories, and snippets from any novel's I'm writing. Feedback is appreciated. You might even get to see world's being constructed as I go and potentially influence the direction some of the worlds' take! I really do enjoy interactive story telling and if there somehow happens to be an audience for it, I would love to do that.
Unfortunately, I highly doubt I'm going to be able to even do that. As much as I would love to write stories and have them unfold with the help of others, I don't exactly have many people visiting this blog. Hell, if you're reading this, it's more likely you're someone I sent the link to directly than anything else.
In the off chance I don't know you, however, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Selene (the S in S. R. Ulrich if that's still the name of this blog because I couldn't think of anything better). I like to write and really like vampires and stuff (so expect to see a lot of vampire stuff here, though I do enjoy writing about other things too so it won't exclusively be vampires). This blog started life as a college project and kinda collected dust since 2020 (you know, when everything kind of went to shit). Now I'm a college dropout that can't afford to go back to college, so I write in my free time as I save to go back.
What to Expect
If I'm being completely honest, don't expect too much. For all I know, I'll give up on this blog almost as quickly as I resurrected it. The plan is to upload at the most absolute minimum once a month, though I will at least try for bi-weekly. Poems and stuff won't adhere to any sort of schedule and will simply show up as I conceive them. So, what that means is that I'll try to either have a story or a chapter posted at minimum once a month.
Keep in mind that as a part of that, most of these stories will have little to no editing done, because editing takes a lot of time and this isn't exactly some kind of publisher, it's a blog, and I can do whatever I so please on it (for the most part). Don't expect to find the next big story here (though if you find it, let me know, I could always use an ego boost).
What I Write
Mostly fantasy. Swords, magic, the whole shebang. I like to simply sit down and fantasize, then try to articulate it. I also like vampires and romance so expect to see attempts at those kinds of things too. I'll label every post with it's genres and type so that you know what to expect before reading.
As of writing, the labels you can expect to see are as follows:
- Short-Story | A short story. Pretty self explanatory.
- Poetry | A poem. Poetry won't ever have a second label.
- Chapter | A chapter in a novel I'm writing that I decided to share.
- Rant | Nothing fictional. Just me ranting. Don't expect a lot of these, I plan to keep this blog focused more on writing than anything else.
- Update | What this is. An update on my writing, site news, or just my life news in general.
- Vampire | Contains vampires.
- Romance | Contains romance, be that tension or spice.
- Fantasy | Denotes that its got magic, swords, et cetera. I don't plan to differentiate between High, Low, Light, or Dark fantasy. All will go under the same label.
- Modern | Takes place in a modern-day sort of setting.
- Mature | Means it gets sexual, violent or gory. Basically a "Proceed at own risk!"
Conclusion
So, yeah. Again, I'll try to make this place full of worlds and stories, but no guarantees. I have a track record of putting things off indefinitely because of depression or losing interest. Again, I know that there's probably absolutely no one to read this, but hey, everyone has to start somewhere. Who knows? Maybe in a year or two, somebody will stumble here and discover me and I can write full time with no worries. Wouldn't that be something? Hell, that would be a dream come true! If you are reading this in the far future, and I'm some kind of celebrity (which is so doubtful that it's kind of comical to think about, but gotta dream big) welcome to the official beginning. If you're discovering me while I'm still small or unknown, then peruse at your leisure.
And expect a lot of throwing shit at a board and seeing what sticks.
